Tonight Morton play their first pre-season fixture of 2007/08 against SPL new boys Gretna. The match was originally scheduled to be played at Motherwell's Fir Park (where Gretna will groundshare this season) but was recently switched to Raydale Park. Kick-off is 7.00 pm.
The match will give Morton fans the chance to see our new signings and possibly one or two trialists in action for the first time. Lee Robinson and Kieran McAnespie should be expected to start. 17 year old midfielder Darren McGeough has been tipped to challenge for a first team place this season and on that basis could feature at some point. Trialists Adam Coakley and Steven McLung could also be involved. McInally explicitly said that Coakley had impressed him and that he would be involved in friendlies this week but there was no mention of McLung so it's unclear if he will participate.
There may be fitness doubts surrounding David MacGregor, Kieran McAnespie , Chris Templeman and Bobby Linn after they missed the bounce game against Albion Rovers on Saturday.
The match should allow any interested Morton fans to judge whether the hype surrounding Gretna's Uruguayan midfielder Fabian Yantorno is justified or not.
I will try to put up a match report (or match details at least) either when I come back from the game tonight or Thursday.
Admission prices are £7 for adults and £3 for Under 16's and OAPs.
