Shimmin To Sign

Morton look set to pull off an unexpected signing in former Arsenal and Queens Park Rangers central defender Dominic Shimmin (pictured, left - in action for QPR and below - lining up as part of the back four against Hartlepool).

Shimmin played two trial matches for us in July. He played the full 90 minutes when we lost 2-1 against Hartlepool and is supposed to have played the first half of the closed door match against Celtic. He looked really good in the game against Hartlepool.

Davie Irons said he was impressed by him but that he was out of our price range. He then joined St. Mirren on trial and looked set to sign but Gus MacPherson dropped his interest.

Then in today's Greenock Telegraph Roger Graham revealed that Shimmin could be signed in time to play in tonight's League Cup match against Stranraer.

We also hope to have Kevin Cuthbert signed up before tonight's match.
