Miscellaneous: Jimmy scored the winner in the 1922 Scottish Cup final. His free kick - the first to be scored in a Scottish Cup final, and not to be repeated for 26 years until another Morton player, Jimmy White, did it as well - was enough to give Morton a 1-0 win over Rangers at Hampden to win our only major trophy so far.

He was employed as the club's trainer when the club made it to the 1948 Scottish Cup Final.

When he retired as trainer in 1959 - after 34 years at Cappielow - he was made an honorary club member.

His nephew, Bert Gourlay, played for the Morton in the 1950's.

He was never capped for the senior national team but did represent the Scottish League against the Irish League in Belfast in 1915.

He has a chapter dedicated to him in Graeme Ross' More Morton Greats.
