Miscellaneous: Dundee United caused controversy by recalling Sean two months from the end of his loan deal at Cappielow stating that they needed him for first team duty. He sat on the bench once and was sold to Queen Of The South. This was controversial because United were only allowed to break the loan deal in case of an emergency (eg having lots of players out injured) but it was obvious they only recalled him to sell him to Queens for a transfer fee.

In another controversial incident Sean - a Queens player by this time - was badly injured by Morton's Colin Reilly. The incident caused a lot of bad feeling between the clubs with accusations of O'Connor being struck with socks while passing through the Ton dressing room on a stretcher on his way to an ambulance.

Sean scored one of Morton's five goals in the remarkable 6-5 loss to Queen of the South in season 2001/02. Since he left Cappielow he has played against Morton seven times in which he has scored four goals.

Sean was forced to retire through injury at the end of the 2008/09 season.
