In today's Christmas Eve edition of the Greenock Telegraph Roger Graham says that according to 'the Telegraph's information' Gretna midfielder Ryan McGuffie (pictured) is the unnamed SPL midfielder mentioned by Douglas Rae last week.
As a youngster McGuffie - along with Colin McMenamin (currently on loan at Livingston from Gretna) - left East Of Scotland league side Annan Athletic to join Newcastle United in the English Premiership. McGuffie never made the break through at St. James Park and joined Gretna in 2002. He made is debut in the first game of the 2002/03 season - in a 1-1 draw with Morton.

Previous Clubs: Annan Athletic,Newcastle United, Gretna.
Jim McInally refused to confirm this information and is quoted in the article as saying: "We are not prepared to comment as the player concerned is still with his club."
However Jim did give us some good news by revealing that he will be attempting to sign another SPL midfielder to replace the departing Chris Millar.
