Don Deal

Morton have signed former Coventry City striker Donovan Simmonds on a short term deal until the end of the season, according to gmfc.net.

Ton gaffer James Grady signed the Englishman (pictured) after an extended trial, in which he scored in a bounce match versus Hamilton Accies.

However, Grady was not fully satisfied with Simmonds' performances and suggested that the striker would be given one more bounce match to try and impress him and earn a deal. "He's not done enough as yet to nail down a place," Grady told the Greenock Telegraph's Roger Graham. "We have told him what he has to do. He has one more game and it's up to him."

But the recent cold snap has made it almost impossible to arrange a competitive fixture, never mind a bounce match. So, it was a surprise to many when the 21-year-old, who had a loan spell at Kilmarnock last season and recently left Maltese Premier League club Floriana, made a surprise debut in Ton's 2-1 defeat at home to Dunfermline on Saturday.
