Last season, former Morton loanee Sean O'Connor was forced to retire when a persistent knee injury failed to clear up - but he is on the road back after featuring as a trialist for Annan Athletic on Saturday.
The 28-year-old striker, who spent eight months on loan at Cappielow during season 2001/02, played 81 minutes as Annan drew 3-3 with Elgin City at Galabank.
O'Connor (pictured, right: celebrating a goal with Scott Miller) has been linked with a return to Queen of the South, and Doonhamers manager Gordon Chisholm has not ruled out a move before the window closes at the end of March. “Sean has kept himself in shape and we would love to have a fit-again Sean O’Connor in our ranks but we can not just put him straight into the first team and see if his knee holds up at this level," he told the SFL website.
"He has agreed to turn out in the short term for Annan as a trialist and we will see how that goes before taking things further.”
