Morton look set to start Saturday's league opener at Clyde with a makeshift defence.

Stewart Greacen will be the only defender with a chance of taking part in Saturday's league opener at Clyde on Saturday. Last season's Captain - who has only played 78 minutes of action this pre-season, all of which came as an early substiute against St. Mirren in the Renfrewshire Cup final - is even rated as doubtful by the Greenock Telegraph's David Christie.

Alex Walker played in both the Renfrewshire Cup semi-final and final but is short of match fitness. David MacGregor and Allan McManus are still out. Ryan Harding will miss the first month of the season after an operation on minor muscle injury and inflammation of the pubic bone.

These injuries mean that Morton will probably go with a back three of:

Weatherson Greacen McGuffie

However, I have a feeling Irons mught risk Alex Walker and play him ahead of McGuffie. In addition there is a chance that former Rangers defender Chris Smith could be signed and put straight into the team.
