Reid had two spells at Cappielow. The first was from 1988 - 1991, in that period his performances were so impressive that he was signed by Rangers but injuries - particularly a cruciate ligament injury - prevented him from fulfilling his potential. He then returned to Cappielow in March 1996 in a deal rumoured to be around £100,000 in an attempt to bolster the squad for the run in to the end of that season. Reid left Morton at the end of season 97-98 and signed for Burnley on a free transfer.

Where Are They Now? - Brian Reid
Former Morton defender Brian Reid was appointed Ayr United manager yesterday. Big Reidy was give the job after Neil Watt's sudden resignation in response to Ayr's poor start to the season. After spells with Rangers, Newcastle United, Blackpool, Queen of the South, Burnley, Falkirk and Dunfermline he finished his playing career at Somerset Park at the end of last season - bowing out, quite appropriately, in a 1 -0 win against Morton on the final day of the 2006/07 season (pictured). Reid (and Andy McLaren) were give a warm reception by the travelling 'Ton fans and at the end of the game Reid returned the applause to show his appreciation in what appeared to be an emotional moment for him.
