Grady Aware Of Marc Smyth's Availability

Morton boss James Grady has admitted that soon to be out of contract Airdrie United defender Marc Smyth is a player that they are 'aware of' but that they haven't made any concrete offer for the 27-year-old.

"We know about him. We are aware his contract is coming up at the end of the season and that he would be available. But we haven't taken it any further," Grady told the Greenock Telegraph's Chris Tait.

However, greenockmortonfc.blogspot.com has heard suggestions that he may have already signed a pre-contract deal to come to Cappielow next season.

With the Diamonds all but relegated, it looks certain that the former Northern Ireland youth internationalist will be leaving the Excelsior stadium this summer anyway. And I, for one, would be delighted if he showed up here next season. I've always been impressed with Smyth since a match he played for Ayr United at Cappielow, in which he was absolutely outstanding.
