Grady Leaves Morton

Morton have today parted company with their caretaker management team, according to the BBC website.

The article simply states that manager James Grady and assistant Allan McManus have 'parted company with the club', with no further details.

Their departure comes as a great surprise as it looked certain that they would continue in the job if they could avoid the drop - which they did with their 2-1 win against Ayr United on the final day of the season.

The pair were appointed as joint caretaker managers on 21 September last year. Then, just over a month later, they were given the job - with Grady as manager and McManus as assistant - until the end of the season.

Both men were on the playing staff when they were asked to step up after Stirling Albion chairman Peter McKenzie asked for £180,000 compensation for Douglas Rae's first choice manager, Allan Moore.

Grady's record as Morton manager was: played 33, won 11, drew 5, lost 17.

Really surprised with this - played in the morton fans game yesterday and the two gave no indication even that talks were going to be happening that day - seen dougie rae driving away from cappielow later in the day mind you so perhaps thats when the deed was done!

It's a strange decision from an allegedly 'cash strapped' club.

Previous attempts at 'buying' success have ended in dismal failure.

Grady made the best of limited resources, and I suspect that an incomer will have to do exactly the same.

The club needs MONEY,the Raes are 'skint', and they're about to chuck more away!

They should stick to making sweeties!
