Davie Irons has revealed that the two trialists who played in the bounce match against Rangers were both attacking midfielders.The Greenock Telegraph's David Christie writes that Irons was not keen to name the trialists but he did say: “They are both attacking midfielders. It is something I would like to have in our side, something a wee bit more creative in the final third. They got wee knocks in the Rangers match so we will give them a chance to recover before making any decision. One is a younger lad, the other more experienced. I don’t want to say too much at this stage, but one is from the SPL and another from an English side."
Christie's article also mentions that Jamie Stevenson (pictured, left) - who returned to the club in January after a loan spell at Alloa - has not been written off by Irons. The Morton manager suggests that Stevenson can force his way into the team.
In other news a 'Ton side made up of mostly fringe players and under-19s beat Ayr United 2-1 at Glasgow Green on Monday. Peter Weatherson and Iain Russell scored the goals.
